Supposed to encourage people socializing, designed by Castiglioni for Cassina, this furniture is made by a rigid wooden base painted in black, surmounted by padded segments of different densities and curved profiles which are stacked on top of each other; the upholstery comes in various colors and can be used to compose a scale of chromatic tones – the center divan is fitted with a hole, which can be used to support a black laminate backrest.

Above all, I though about a nonconformist way of sitting; in particular, I thought about an element to seat that could adapt itself to big public and private spaces which, in a certain sense, may serve as an element of ‘bonding’ and cohesion among different people […]” – Achille Castiglioni
